We don't track live outage status. For Spectrum's official word, go straight to Spectrum's official outage page →

Typed "Spectrum outage" because your connection just dropped? This page won't tell you whether Spectrum is out in your area — we don't monitor network status, and no outside source can see inside Spectrum's network the way Spectrum can. What we can do: point you to the one place built to answer that question, give you a short list of checks that rule out your own equipment first, and lay out what counts as long enough to escalate. Start with the official link above, then work through the checklist below.
The seven-step outage checklist
- Check the provider's official status page first. Every provider runs its own official support and outage channel — the link at the top of this page goes to the right starting point for it. Sign in if it asks; most check your address or account for known problems in your area. For Spectrum, that's Spectrum's official outage page.
- Power-cycle the modem and router properly. Unplug both from power, wait a full 30 seconds, then plug the modem in first and let it fully connect before powering the router. Most connection problems that aren't outages end here.
- Work out whether it's the WiFi or the line. If you can, plug a laptop directly into the router with an ethernet cable. Internet over the cable but not over WiFi means a WiFi problem, not an outage. Several devices failing at once points at the line.
- Confirm it's the home connection, not the wider internet. Switch your phone off WiFi and load a page over mobile data. If the same sites work on mobile data but nothing works at home, the problem is between your home and your provider.
- Ask a neighbor or check local groups. If a neighbor on the same provider is also down, it's almost certainly an area problem — report it and wait. If they're fine, the issue is more likely your equipment or your line specifically.
- Report it to the provider. Providers prioritize repairs partly by how many reports an area generates. Reporting through the app or support line also creates the paper trail you'll want for the next step.
- Ask for a credit if the outage ran long. Many providers will credit part of your bill for extended outages — policies differ and few advertise it, so you usually have to ask. Mention the dates and how long service was out.
Will it come back on its own?
Most home internet interruptions, including brief ones affecting Spectrum customers, clear up within a few minutes without anyone doing anything — a fix on the provider's end rolls out and service returns. Give it 15 to 20 minutes before assuming something's seriously wrong. If Spectrum service hasn't returned after a couple of hours, or the same problem keeps recurring on different days, that's the point to stop waiting and start documenting: note when it started, what you tried, and contact support directly instead of continuing to guess.
Outages keep coming back?
The one thing this site can do that a status page can't: show you every other provider at your address. Check your address — or browse the cities where our data tracks Spectrum:

Frequently asked questions
- Is Spectrum down right now?
- We can't tell you that here — this page doesn't monitor networks, and only Spectrum can say authoritatively whether something's wrong at your address today. The fastest way to check: open the official status page linked above, or plug a computer directly into your modem with an ethernet cable to see whether it's your WiFi rather than the connection itself.
- Is there a live Spectrum outage map?
- Not on this site — we deliberately don't publish an outage map, since we have no way to verify area-by-area reports and a wrong map does more harm than none. Spectrum's own status page is the closest thing to an authoritative source, and it's linked at the top of this page. Independent report-tracking sites can show spikes in user complaints, but that reflects what people typed in, not confirmed network data.
- Can I get a credit for a Spectrum outage?
- Possibly, but policies vary by provider and aren't always advertised upfront, so the only reliable way to find out is to ask Spectrum directly. If your service was out for several hours or longer, contact support, give them the dates and approximate duration, and request a credit — many providers will apply one for extended outages once you ask, even though it isn't automatic.
